Big Stax 500 (Day 2): Quick Action Back

Level 22 (Blinds 10,000/20,000/3,000)
Players Remaining: 32
Chip Average: 1,076,000

It only took one hand back from break to lose a player as Andy Spears (Buffalo, NY) shoved his remaining 13 bigs in and was called by Tim Bryan (Atlanta, GA).  Andy's 8 9 < A K of Tim, and Bryan is now over 700,000 (still below average).

Big Stax 500 (Day 2): Break Time

Players are going on a (10) minute break and will return to Level 22 and blinds of 10,000/20,000/3,000 (the chip average is 1,043,000).  There are 33 players remaining at the moment, and when they reach 27 there will be a complete redraw.  When the redraw occurs we will bring you the full list of players remaining, as well as chip stacks.

Steve Ettenger continues to trend upward, as he now sits with over 2,400,000.

Big Stax 500 (Day 2): From Beast To Least

Level 21 (Blinds 8,000/16,000/2,000)
Players Remaining: 34
Chip Average: 1,000,000

Jia Liu (Brooklyn, NY) experienced the roller coaster that is variance since we returned from dinner.  He was peaking at close to 1,800,000, but has just been eliminated in 35th place by Steve Ettenger after a steady downtrend (since the start of Level 21).  Ettenger has now assumed the position that Liu was just in, holding close to 2,000,000.

Moment to note:

- Only one hand before Liu would be eliminated, we would see the departure of Kelly Armentrout in 36th place.

Big Stax 500 (Day 2): 37th-45th Places ($2,046)

The following players cashed in the event for $2,046:

37. Bill Fleming (Scranton, PA)
38. Nathan Tuthill (Fredricksburg, VA)
39. Ari Albilia (Syosset, NY)
40. Thomas Martinson (Fort Ann, NY)
41. Matt Glantz (Lafayette Hill, PA)
42. David Kim (Absecon, NJ)
43. Daniel Chan (New York, NY)
44. Rocco Luciano (Philadelphia, PA)
45. George Alberto (Clifton, NJ)

Big Stax 500 (Day 2): The Wright Way

Level 21 (Blinds 8,000/16,000/2,000)
Players Remaining: 40
Chip Average: 861,000

Sean Wright

We were looking for Sean's chip count going into the day, but could not find his name anywhere on the paperwork.  Reason being…Sean was one of the nine players to buy in this morning with eight big blinds.  Wright tripled up with kings only three hands into the day, and has since continued on the upward trend.  He now has over 1,100,000 and is seemingly free rolling from where he started the day.

Moment to note:

- Edmond Petrella doubles after he shoves over a raise and two calls.  He gets called by Jia Liu and ends up with over 700,000 after his AK > KQ of Liu on the 3 6 Q A 2 runout.

Big Stax 500 (Day 2): Break Time

Players are going on a (10) minute break and will return to Level 21 and blinds of 8,000/16,000/2,000. The chip average amongst the remaining 40 players is 861,000 (~ 50 bigs).

Big Stax 500 (Day 2): Three Big Names Bust

Level 20 (Blinds 6,000/12,000/2,000)
Players Remaining: 40
Chip Average: 861,000

We had three of the bigger names in the event bust in sequence as Daniel Chan (43rd), David Kim (42nd), and Matt Glantz (41st).  Henry Guttman continues to lead the way with over 3,000,000, and Izzet Baruk Temel still in a close second with 2,700,000.

Moment to note:

- Amanda Musumeci had been grinding a 20-30 big blind stack the entire day, but busts Matt Glantz and chips up to 700,000.

Big Stax 500 (Day 2): Liu Making Noise

Level 20 (Blinds 6,000/12,000/2,000)
Players Remaining: 42
Chip Average: 820,000

Jia Liu

Jia Liu (Brooklyn, NY) is plain and simple a beast.  He has close to $750,000 in career tournament earnings, with his breakout score coming in 2012 (Borgata Spring Poker Open for $312,000).  His most recent cash came in November of last year when he won the DeepStacks Poker Tour National Championship for over $125,000.

He's top ten in the room at the moment with over 1,800,000, adding over 1,000,000 to his stack since returning from dinner.

Moment to note:

- Asher Conniff goes over 1,000,000 after he calls three streets of betting by Temel on K K 5 4 J, and his 77 > 33 of Izzet.

Big Stax 500 (Day 2): 46th-54th Places ($1,754)

The following players have cashed in the event for $1,754:

46. Paul Shedaker (Croydon, PA)
47. Robert Gallagher (Philadelphia, PA)
48. Robert Santora Jr. (Bensalem, PA)
49. Mickey Woll (Manahawkin, NJ)
50. Sam Kayrouze (Harrisburg, PA)
51. TJ Shulman (Boyton Beach, FL)
52. Xin Guo Lin (Brooklyn, NY)
53. Peter Ippolito (East Meadow, NY)
54. Ricardo Franco (Philadelphia, PA)

Big Stax 500 (Day 2): Temel Catching Up

Level 20 (Blinds 6,000/12,000/2,000)
Players Remaining: 46
Chip Average: 750,000

Izzet Burak Temel

Izzet Temmel (Arlington, VA) is slowing catching Henry Guttman's chip lead, as Temel now has over 2,300,000.

Three hands to note since we've returned from dinner:

- Asher Conniff doubles to 600,000 after his 10 10 > AK
- Jason Quintanna had a foot out the door when his AQ was up against the 34 of James Anderson on the A 3 4 flop, but all the chips got in and the board ran out 2 5 for the chop.
- Ari Albilia doubles as his 10 10 > 9 9, chipping up to over 450,000.

Big Stax 500 (Day 2): Back In Action

Level 20 (Blinds 6,000/12,000/2,000)
Players Remaining: 48
Chip Average: 717,000

Players have returned from dinner and the cards are back in the air.  Mickey Woll (chip leader coming into the day) has just been eliminated in 49th place for $1,754.  Mickey bagged 300,000 more than what the average would be right now, but could not find the same zone he happened to be in all of last night.

Big Stax 500 (Day 2): Dinner Break

Players are going on a (75) minute dinner break, and the play/live coverage will resume at 8:15pm.  We will have updated chip counts post-dinner while the tournament directors count the chips in play.

Big Stax 500 (Day 2): Club Two Mil/Heading To Dinner

Level 19 (Blinds 5,000/10,000/1,000)
Players Remaining: 50
Chip Average: 688,000

There are two players who are going to dinner with a healthy appetite…and a healthy chip stack:

Henry Guttman - 2,900,000
Izzet Temel - 2,200,000

Nancy Martin (Washington Crossing, PA) just crossed the one million mark (1,250,000), and is one of a handful of woman still remaining in the field.

Big Stax 500 (Day 2): 55th-63rd Places ($1,462)

The following players cashed in the event for $1,462:

55. John Averill (Hoboken, NJ)
56. Akib Ali (Princeton, NJ)
57. Mike Azzarro (Yonkers, NY)
58. Justin Liberto (Baltimore, MD)
59. Chris Senape (New York, NY)
60. Edward Walsch (Langhorne, PA)
61. Michael Zduniak (Howell, NJ)
62. Michael Olarte (Elmhurst, NY)
63. Milton Jaffee (Staten Island, NY)

Big Stax 500 (Day 2): Brutal Runout

Level 19 (Blinds 5,000/10,000/1,000)
Players Remaining: 55
Chip Average: 626,000

Mike Azzarro (Yonkers, NY) is no stranger to the Big Stax final table, and he was in a great spot to win a 700,000 pot.  He was all-in pre versus Jeffrey Spence (King Of Prussia, PA):

Azzarro: A♥ A          Spence: Q Q♣

Flop: 10♣ 8♣ 2♠

Turn: 6♣

River: 7♣

Azzaro would be covered by only a few chips, and would exit the tournament area in 57th place ($1,462).

Big Stax 500 (Day 2): 64th-72nd Places ($1,211)

The following players have cashed in the event for $1,211:

64. Gaiane Petrossian (New York, NY)
65. Daniel McAuliffe (Long Beach, NY)
66. Steven Thorton (Springfield, PA)
67. Eric Miotto (York, PA)
68. Gary Ackerman (Collegeville, PA)
69. Satish Surapaneni (New York, NY)
70. Kevin Lutz (Belmawr, NJ)
71. David Britchkow (Dresher, PA)
72. Uke Dauti (Stanhope, NJ)

Big Stax 500 (Day 2): Updated Chip Counts

Level 19 (Blinds 5,000/10,000/1,000)
Players Remaining: 65
Chip Average: 529,000

Here are some updated chip counts from the field:

Henry Guttman - 2,850,000
George Alberto - 1,800,000
Wooyang Lin - 1,300,000
Robert Albert - 1,300,000
Izzet Temel - 1,200,000
TJ Shulman - 1,000,000
James Anderson - 1,000,000
Frank Deesing - 930,000
DJ MacKinnon - 900,000

Big Stax 500 (Day 2): Break Time

Players are on another (10) minute break, and when they return the blinds will be 5,000/10,000/1,000.  The chip average of 521,000 is just over 52 bigs, so there is a ton of play remaining left for those remaining.  Henry Guttman just won a huge pot to increase his chip lead as he flopped the nut straight and had his opponent call him with an ace on the 7 8 10 A board.  Guttman now has well over 2,000,000 and is our clear leader at the moment.

Big Stax 500 (Day 2): Club Mil

Level 18 (Blinds 4,000/8,000/1,000)
Players Remaining: 69
Chip Average: 500,000

The following players are all over 1,000,000 (updated counts will be posted shortly), with Henry Guttman not pictured:

George Alberto

Izzet Temel

James Anderson

Frank Deesing

Robert Albert

Big Stax 500 (Day 2): Bustout Tweets

Level 18 (Blinds 4,000/8,000/1,000)
Players Remaining: 72
Chip Average: 478,000

Here are some of the most recent bustout Tweets:

Big Stax 500 (Day 2): 73rd-81st Places ($1,002)

The following players have cashed in the event for $1,002:

73. Ryan Eriquezzo (Danbury, CT)
74. Joe McKeehen (North Wales, PA)
75. Gene Mazza (Elizabeth, NJ)
76 . Ibraim Ibramovic (Brooklyn, NY)
77. David Datashvili (Forest Hills, NY)
78. Peter Tarsiewicz (Mt. Laurel, NJ)
79. Nunzio Terra (Philadelphia, PA)
80. Jason Acosta (Little Ferry, NJ)
81. Ray Ross (Maple Glen, PA)

Big Stax 500 (Day 2): Bubble Bursts/Bubble Double

Level 18 (Blinds 4,000/8,000/1,000)
Players Remaining: 81
Chip Average: 425,000

The bubble has burst and the remaining players in the tournament will be collecting their share of the prize fund (min cash is $1,002).  Our bubble boy was Norman Michalek (Westfield, NJ) who ran his KK < AA, and had to walk away in 82nd place.

Nancy Martin Doubles

While we were on the bubble, Nancy Martin had a huge double up as she flopped set over set against chip leader Henry Guttman.  Martin is now over 800,000 after starting the day with 120,000 (towards the bottom tier).

Big Stax 500 (Day 2): Hand For Hand

Level 18 (Blinds 4,000/8,000/1,000)
Players Remaining: 83
Chip Average: 410,000

We are now hand for hand until the money bubble is burst, and we will keep you updated the minute we have reached the money.

Big Stax 500 (Day 2): Break Time

Players are on their second break, and when the remaining 85 players come back, the blinds will be going up to 4,000/8,000/1,000 (chip average of 405,000).

Big Stax 500 (Day 2): Pushing A Mil

Level 17 (Blinds 3,000/6,000/1,000)
Players Remaining: 88
Chip Average: 391,000

As we reach the bubble, more players are beginning to reach the 1,000,000 chip mark.  It's clear that this bubble will not be the same as the Big Stax 300, which busted in a blink of an eye (12 players busted in 1:45).  Here are some players reaching for a million:

Robert Albert - 1,100,000
Chris Senape - 940,000
David Kim - 800,000

Big Stax 500 (Day 2): Money Bubble Looms

Level 17 (Blinds 3,000/6,000/1,000)
Players Remaining: 92
Chip Average: 378,000

The tournament clock will be paused when 83 players remain, and the field will then be playing hand-for-hand.  At the moment there are 90 active players, with Parx regular Sean Wallace (Horsham, PA) the most recent to bust.

Big Stax 500 (Day 2): Leading The Way

Level 18 (Blinds 3,000/6,000/1,000)
Players Remaining: 97
Chip Average: 355,000

Here are the top three stacks in the room at the moment:

Henry Guttman - 1,600,000
Mickey Woll - 1,100,000
George Alberto - 930,000

Day 1B chip leader James Anderson has dipped below 700,000, but still as over 100 bigs.

Big Stax 500 (Day 2): No Shortage Of Action

Level 17 (Blinds 3,000/6,000/1,000)
Players Remaining: 100
Chip Average: 344,000

Henry Guttman continues his tear to the top as he busts Shing Har in a 800,000 pot.  Har shoved 350,000 on the turn into a 370,000 pot on a 9 5 3 8 board.  Guttman called and his 10 10 > AK of Har, sending Shing to the rail and building his stack to over 1,600,000.

Big Stax 500 (Day 2): Former Champ Chipping Up

Level 17 (Blinds 3,000/6,000/1,000)
Players Remaining: 109
Chip Average: 315,000

Ilya Ekshtut

Ilya Ekshtut (Holland, PA) is the reigning champ of this event (being there was no $500 event in Big Stax IV), and he just scooped a healthy pot to help towards defending.  Ilya busted Stephanie Hubbard in the three-way all-in, with his AA > JJ & TT.  Ekshtut started the day with 164,000 and now has just under 700,000.

Big Stax 500 (Day 2): Busting Before Break

We had a few players bust before break, updating us via Twitter:

Big Stax 500 (Day 2): First Break

Players are going on their first break of the day, and when they return after (10) minutes the blinds will have gone up to 3,000/6,000/1,000 (chip average of 296,000).

Big Stax 500 (Day 2): Brutal Spot

Level 16 (Blinds 2,500/5,000/500)
Players Remaining: 117
Chip Average: 294,000

Henry Guttman

We walked over to Table 50 as a hand between Mike Dentale and Day 1A chip leader Henry Guttman was on the river.  The pot was about 150,000, and the board was 8 4 6 8 2.  Guttman had put out a 38,000 river bet, which Dentale raised to 100,000.  Henry three-bet all-in (having Dentale covered), and Mike was in the tank for about four minutes talking the hand through.  He made it known that he had a full house, but was convinced that he may of been beat.

Mike counted out his chips to see what he would be left if he was to fold, and also did some talking to Guttman (but would get no reaction).  Dentale would eventually make the call and see Guttman table pocket fours (turned full house).  Mike showed 22 (rivered full house), and exited the tournament area at a swift pace.

Big Stax 500 (Day 2): Like Son, Like Father

Level 16 (Blinds 2,500/5,000/500)
Players Remaining: 128

Milton Jaffee

At Table 55 sits Milton Jaffee, father of Jared Jaffee, who final tabled the Big Stax II ($1,500) last May.  Jared was talking about the cash coming at a good time before he headed off to Vegas only a few months later.  Jared then went on to win close to $800,000 since, which included a WPT win in Jacksonville and another WPT final table at the Borgata.

Milton is trying to follow in the steps of his son, and currently sits on a stack of 150,000 (30 bigs).

Big Stax 500 (Day 2): Wexler Doubles

Level 16 (Blinds 2,500/5,000/500)
Players Remaining: 129

Jonas Wexler (Southampton, PA) just got a well needed double and chips up to over 200,000 (40 bigs).  The tournament floor has also just added the chip average to the board, and at the moment it is 269,000 (which is a little over 50 bigs).

Big Stax 500 (Day 2): Bustouts And Doubles

Level 16 (Blinds 2,500/5,000/500)
Players Remaining: 138

As predicted we are seeing many of the shorter stacks coming into the day heading for the door, while others have different plans.  Nancy Martin (Washington Crossing, PA) just doubled moments ago through James Anderson (44 >KQ), and she now has over 130,000.

We've also seen a handful of notables coming into the day bust:

Bob Brady (brought in this morning)
Antonio Payne
Greg Fishberg

We've had one table break already, making Table 54 even tougher than it was before:

Joe McKeehen (Seat 1)

Greg Himmelbrand (Seat 5)

Big Stax 500 (Day 2): Cards In The Air

Level 16 (Blinds 2,500/5,000/500)
Total Entries: 861

The tournament floor has announced the beginning of Day 2, and the cards are now in the air.  Nine players took the shot at buying in this morning, one of which did the same for the Big Stax 300 and cashed:

Big Stax 500 (Day 2): Play Underway At 12:00pm

Day 2 play of the Big Stax 500 will resume at 12:00pm, and there isn't a winter storm that could keep these players from their goal…Day 3.  We have an incredible amount of great players remaining, and things should get off to a quick start this afternoon.  The payouts will be posted shortly, once the cage tallies any people registering this morning for eight blinds.  There were 33 players who entered the big Stax 300 the morning of Day 2, some of which cashed, and one of which made it to Day 3 (Igor Skochilo).

Mickey Woll (Manhattan, NY) comes into the day as our chip leader (1,038,000), which James Anderson now far behind (940,000).  The smallest stack coming into the day is Paul Stevens (Marlton, NJ) with 23,000.
