Big Stax 300 (Day 1C): Parx Sets New Mark

Level 4 (Blinds 150/300/50 ante)
1C Entries: 493 (1,375 total)

Guerrero & Kovats

Just before the day's first break, players helped set a Parx tournament record with 1,375 entries.  The previous best was 1,364 in this series a year ago, February, 2013.

"We're appreciative of the turn out and things keeps getting bigger and better," says Bill Entenman, Parx Director of Poker Operations. "Not just now, but we're also excited about May."

Players can circle the early part of May on their calendars as tournament officials finalize the plans for the next Big Stax series.

Today Entenman, Tournament Director Dave Grubb and the entire Parx poker team have seamlessly gotten every player into the field with little or no wait time.

Not only do we see local players like Joe "Worm" Palma (Bensalem, PA), Brian Wright (Langhorne, via Bradley Beach, NJ) and Ray Ross (Maple Glen, PA) in the tournament, but players are coming from all over Pennsylvania and beyond.

A couple of first timers include Rosendo Guerrero (Hazelton, PA), who made the 1 hour, 40 minute trip to Parx. "This is awesome," he says about the structure and value. "I'm a new player and starting to travel (to play)."

Another Parx newbie is Tom Kovats (Fairfax, VA) who normally plays his poker in West Virginia but says, "they don't have tournaments this big," adding, "I had to check it out."

Registration for this event is open through Flight C and players can register until just before the start of Day 2, noon Sunday.
